On Friday, December 16, Congress passed legislation allowing the Army Corps of Engineers to participate in the Sand Replenishment Project. This is very positive news for the community as the bill was passed by the House of Representatives in July and has since been delayed in the Senate.

The Sandbridge Beach community recieved some postive news this week regarding the Sand Replenishment. Representative Scott Rigell and the House of Representatives approved the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act. Within the Act, Rigell included wording that would remove the federal barrier that had restricted the Army Corps of Engineers from accepting the necessary funds [...]

As of now, the city is offering $15 million to the federal government to replenish the Sandbridge beaches, but the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has said its agreement with the city doesn’t allow it to accept the city’s money.
